Die 'Hahnenkamm-Runde' fährt sich in unter drei Stunden, mit warten sollten es wohl nicht mehr als vier werden (dachte ich). Die Strecke teilt sich in drei Teile auf und ist damit sehr abwechslungsreich: Das Hufeisengebiet, Hahnenkamm und dann der Schäferberg. +Start + +Trotz 'Kinzigtal total' und Sperrung der A3 trafen wir uns an diesem Sonntagmorgen relativ pünktlich. Klaus kam per Smart, sein Specialized passte tatsächlich rein! Als Neuzugang durften wir Gerald begrüßen. +Route + +Über Lützelhausen zieht es sich über den Pi-Wanderweg hoch zum Hufeisen und weiter hoch bis zum Franzosenkopf. Dann hat man schon den ersten langen Anstieg hinter sich. Nach der holprigen Abfahrt verlässt man auf der Straße Richtung Geiselbach das erste Gebiet. Die Wurzelpassage hoch und dann auf der Waldautobahn am Frohnbügel vorbei. Wir machen eine Abstecher zur Schwedenschanze um dann im Schuss runter zu sausen. Gerald ist begeistert! Zurück auf den Kammweg, der uns nach schönem Cruisen direkt an den oberen Rand vom Michelbacher Weinberg bringt. Das steile Stück runter und dann über Dörsthöfe zum Aufstieg Hahnenkamm. Hier machte sich dann doch bemerkbar, das Klaus seit zwei Monaten nicht mehr auf dem Rad saß. Wir versorgten ihn mit Energy und er gab noch mal alles. Oben kehrten wir dann zu Stärkung ein. Peter schielte gierig auf Klaus' und Geralds Schweinebraten und musste, wie ich, bei Kartoffelpuffer und Apfelmuß darben. Nach dieser verdienten Stärkung und Ruhepause traten wir die Heimreise an. Die Holperstrecke runter nach Alzenau (Gerald war durch seine zwei Radler mittlerweile auch nicht mehr zu bremsen) und hinein ins letzte Gebiet: Ich wollte noch unbedingt den schönen Trail auf der Birkenhainer Straße den Schäferberg runter fahren. Bei erstaunlich warmen 14 °C lag er da nicht verkehrt, bis auf ein paar Tropfen blieb das Wetter auch stabil. Die Route führte uns hoch zur Breitenborner Höhe, den 67 runter nach Breitenborn, Betonweg hoch zu den Kaisereichen und dann die Rinne des 62er runter nach Hückelheim und schließlich den Bergrücken runter zum Rochusbach um nach Horbach zu cruisen. Das mit dem Schnee hielt sich in Grenzen, obwohl auf den Kuppen ein paar Reste der letzten Nacht übrig geblieben waren. +Die Route hatte nur versprochene 31,5 km, was der Durchschnittsform der Gruppe entgegen kam. Leider hatte Edmund vergessen zu erwähnen, dass vorher eine Anfahrt von 1:40 h zum Einstieg zu bewältigen sei (von der Rückfahrt ganz zu schweigen). Diese besagte Anfahrt führte uns über die Nordpassage zur Burg Falkenstein hoch und dann weiter über den Kamm den superschönen Burgenweg lang, welcher an diesem Tage recht matschig und etwas Schnee, was aber den Reiz der Strecke nur noch erhöhte. Um dann endlich den Einstieg für den Rundkurs 'MTB-Strecke nördliche Bergstraße' zu erreichen. An dieser Stelle machte sich allerdings bereits etwas Ernüchterung bezüglich der Differenz von gestecktem Ziel und vorliegenden sportlichem Format in der Gruppe. Der matschige Untergrund, der uns an diesem Tag ein treuer Begleiter zu sein schien, forderte ebenfalls seinen Teil an der uns zur Verfügung stehen Reserve aus Weihnachtsbraten und Lebkuchen. Jetzt hieß es, die richtige Taktik anzuwenden, damit das für diesen Tag möglichst beste Trainingsresultat erzielt werden konnte. Deshalb wurde von Edmund der Melibokus (517 m) als Ziel gesetzt, welcher uns auf der bis dahin noch durchzustehender Route immer wieder am Horizont erschien. Wenn der geschafft sein, so Edmund, könnte uns die Straßenbahn zurück bis vor die Haustür bringen. Welch eine geniale Strategie! Keiner in der Runde wagte es auch nur im Entferntesten an diesem schier unumstößlichen Ziel festzuhalten. Wenn auch die Temperaturen mit knapp unter 10° etwas verhalten waren. ( Ich hatte es mir mit meinem neuen Garmin Tacho der auch Temperaturen anzeigt, zur Aufgabe gemacht die Gruppe regelmäßig mit der aktuellen Temperatur zu nerven) so war die Motivation und Stimmung dennoch gelassen. Die Fahrt bestand aus zwei Teilen, im Ersten wurde traditionell der Frankenstein und ein paar weitere Hubbel im Odenwald erklommen, Im zweiten Abschnitt ging es dann in die Fläche der Rheinebene, deren Strassen durch ihr stetiges Geradeaus den Verschleis der Steuerlager minmierten.
